<p><strong>NASA&#8217;s chosen plants for purifying indoor air</strong></p>
<p>The National Aeronautic and Space Agency (NASA) researched plants&#8217; abilities to eliminate air pollutants, presumably to determine how to decorate a space station and help the air stay oxygenated and fresh.</p>
<p>NASA recommends placing 15 to 18 of your choices from their researched plants in an 1800 square foot or 167 square meter dwelling or office. Obviously, less are required for smaller spaces. Just make sure the plants are as large as possible for their types.</p>
<p>These plants can help reduce all sorts of serious air pollutants, even benzene, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene, as well as microbial pathogens. Living in low pollution areas still leaves you with chemicals released from particle boards and fiber glass insulation materials. The plants reduce air toxins and carbon dioxide while increasing oxygen levels and humidity.</p>
<p>You won&#8217;t need all the different types of indoor plants, of course. The options are yours from which to choose for monetary and aesthetic reasons. NASA&#8217;s choices are:</p>

* Elephant ear philodendron (Philodendrum domesticum)<br />
* Red-edged dracaena (Dracaena marginata)<br />
* Cornstalk dracaena (Dracaena fragrans Massangeana)<br />
* Janet Craig dracaena (Dracaena deremensis Janet Craig<br />
* Warneck dracaena (Dreacaena dermenisis Waneckii)<br />
* Weeping fig (Ficus benjamina)</p>
<p>Aloe Vera plants received honorable mention as air cleaners. You could use the gooey jell from inside a leaf to treat minor burns.</p>
<p>A couple of these plants are poisonous if eaten. So consider that if you have pets or toddlers. Most of them are low maintenance, but a couple of them have their quirks. In addition to basic maintenance, being nice to plants and playing classical or quality new age music does increase their life force.</p>

<p><strong>&#8220;What Can and Cannot Be Said About the SOTA Units</strong></p>

We have recently learned that government regulators, in order to determine how to classify our units, look not only at what SOTA says about the SOTA units, but also at what our Retailers and Practitioners say. We are allowed to be classed as Consumer Products as long as <strong>we do not make claims and as long as we do not link to websites that make claims</strong> about the SOTA Products. <strong>Testimonials are considered claims</strong>. In today&#8217;s sensitive political climate, it is important that SOTA Retailers and Practitioners follow these same policies.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, we need to become more militant about this &#8230; and revoke retailer status from any who do not comply. We have discovered that many Retailers and Practitioners are simply unaware of the line between what can and cannot be said. It is important to understand that you <strong>CANNOT</strong> have information on your website or a link to any website that make claims about the SOTA units, talk about the health benefits using this technology or that discuss any medical uses of the SOTA units.</p>
<p>The only words that can be used to describe our products are: wellness, health, well-being and relaxation.</p>
<p>We do not want to have to take the additional step of disallowing ANY internet sales of the SOTA Products. We will only do so if we feel we need to in order to be able to keep being of service to people who use the SOTA Products.&#8221;</p>

<p>As we age, we all need to be concerned with Alzheimer&#8217;s; preventing it in yourself, reversing if need be and just recognizing it in our loved ones. <p>&#8220;The Good News is that we have Health Canada Approval for ProArgi-9+!! This means that  Alternative Health Practitioners and Chiropractors who are only allowed to recommend NHP approved Products can now sell ProArgi9+.</p>
<p>The other Good News is that all of the back orders for ProArgi-9 has been shipped from our Brampton Warehouse, this means that all of your customers will finally have all of their orders by the middle of next week!<strong><br clear="all" /> </strong></p>
<p><strong></strong>The Not So Good News is that Health Canada has insisted on some pretty drastic disclaimers to be placed on the Cdn. Product Label.  Please keep in mind that Synergy has tried everything to get Health Canada to be somewhat reasonable but to no avail.  Below is some of the information that will show up on the ProArgi9 Label.</p>

<p> <strong>Recommended Use</strong>: Helps support healthy cardiovascular function. <em>This is all that Health  Canada would allow us to say about our product.</em></p>
<p><strong>Recommended Duration of Use</strong>: Consult a health care practitioner for use beyond a duration of 6 weeks. <em>This statement makes no sense whatsoever.  Our product is nothing more than a combination of Food. Therefore, I have to assume that Health Canada wants every Canadian to do the following. Every time you start eating a New Food, after 6 weeks you will HAVE to make an appointment with your doctor to see if you can continue eating it beyond the 6 week time frame. (It sounds a little goofy doesn&#8217;t it).</em></p>
<p><strong>Cautions and warnings</strong>: Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have renal/kidney disease, are following a low protein diet or are taking medication for cardiovascular diseases, erectile dysfunction, and/or blood thinners.  Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you suffer from a cardiovascular disease and are attempting an increase in physical activity or if your cardiovascular condition worsens. <em>Again what is Health Canada inferring here?? Are they inferring that we are a nasty DRUG!!!?? By the sounds of this disclaimer they are treating ProArgi-9 like some kind of synthetic chemical that may do more harm than good. Again, I liked to remind you that our product is nothing more than a FOOD &amp; has no synthetic medicinal ingredients in it!!</em></p>
<p><em>You need to remind your clients that this product has been used<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"> SAFELY for over 5 Years</span></strong>!! This product has been successfully used around the world on clients who have the following conditions { pregnant women, breastfeeding women, people with renal/kidney disease, on people taking medication for cardiovascular diseases, erectile dysfunction, and/or blood thinners } </em></p>
<p><strong>Contraindications:</strong> Do not use if you have had a heart attack/myocardial infarction. <em>Again I would like to re-iterate that this product has been successfully used around the world on clients who have cardiovascular disease &amp; who are taking medication for cardiovascular disease.  In fact, you may recall the <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">High Desert Heart Institute in California</span> who conducted a clinical trial on 33 high-risk heart failure  patients who were medically maxed out and where on all kinds of cardiovascular medications &amp; blood thinners &amp; they had NO Contra-Indications whatsoever with ProArgi-9 &amp; in fact had amazing improvements!!! </strong></em></p>
<p><strong>Known Adverse Reactions</strong>: Some people may experience gastrointestinal discomfort (such as diarrhea). <p>Ignorance may or may not be bliss, but one thing is certain &#8212; it is very profitable. At least that&#8217;s what cell phone companies count on to increase their bottom line. Health Canada may not be the most reputable agency when it comes to protecting the health of Canadians, but a promising initiative from the regulating body is proposing to adopt a precautionary approach and guidelines for limited cellphone use.</p>
<p>Canadians are encouraged to limit cellphone call length and to text message or use a hands-free device whenever possible (to increase the distance between the cellphone and the user&#8217;s head). Those under 18 should be especially careful to limit all cellphone use. Children are still growing and are therefore much more sensitive to external agents such as radiation.</p>

<p>In May, mobile phone owners were urged to limit their use after the World Health Organisation admitted they may cause cancer. The UN&#8217;s health agency were the first international governing agency to advise ‘pragmatic&#8217; measures to reduce exposure, such as using hands-free kits and texting instead of calling.</p>
<p>Despite decades of evidence, the disturbing report from the WHO marked the first time a link was admitted between mobiles and cancer, and follows earlier research linking just half an hour&#8217;s use a day with up to 40 per cent higher odds of brain cancer.</p>
<p>The data obtained was enough for the International Agency for Research on Cancer to label cellphones as &#8220;possibly carcinogenic to humans.&#8221; Most experts well-versed in the area of electromagenetic frequencies (EMF) and wireless technologies have little doubt that these devices are &#8220;most likely&#8221; capable of causing not only cancer, but a wide array of diseases in all living things.</p>
<p>Dr Christopher Wild, director of the WHO&#8217;s International Agency for Research on Cancer, said: ‘Given the potential consequences for public health, it is important that additional research be conducted into the long-term, heavy use of mobile phones.</p>
<p>&#8220;It seems that most of the world is addicted to cell phones and texting,&#8221; stated technology specialist Chris Thompson. &#8220;You know we&#8217;re addicted when people are driving and texting at the same time, or at the gym and texting in between sets&#8230;no that&#8217;s addiciton,&#8221; he added.</p>
<p>In a recent study, Swedish researchers published an epidemiologic report suggesting an increased risk of brain cancers (gliomas) as well as acoustic nerve tumors (neuromas) in people using cell phones for ten years or longer. Tumors were more likely to develop on the same side as the cell phone was used. Other studies by the same group suggested that the use of wireless handsets in cordless home phones posed the same risk.</p>
<p>After reviewing the evidence, one author even suggested that long-term cell phone use is &#8220;more dangerous to health than smoking cigarettes.&#8221; Other recent commentators have raised similar concerns.</p>
<p>The findings are alarming in light of the exponential growth of cell phones-now including widespread use by children and teenagers. The damaging effects of EMF might be even greater in the developing brain.</p>
<p>The link is real since rates of brain cancers have increased over the last two decades. Some studies have reported that this is particularly the case for the most malignant brain cancers.</p>
<p><strong>Changes Worldwide </strong></p>
<p>Russian officials have recommended that children under the age of 18 years not use cell phones at all. Similarly, Israel, Belgium, Germany and India have discouraged use of cell phones by children. In Finland, the Radiation and Nuclear Power Authority has urged parents to err on the side of caution.</p>
<p>France has set the following recommendations:</p>
<p>1) All cell phones must be sold with a device limiting head exposure to EMF.</p>
<p>2) Any advertising campaign promoting the use of cell phones by children below 14 years is banned.</p>
<p>3) Providing radio equipments designed for children under 6 may be banned by ministerial order.</p>
<p>4) In kindergarten primary school and junior high, the use of cell phones is banned for kids during all teaching activities in locations listed in School rules.</p>
<p>5) For all cell phones sold on the French territory the SAR must be indicated clearly and in French. Possible risks resulting from excessive use must also be mentioned.</p>
<p>Researchers from the National Institutes of Health have established that less than an hour of cellphone use can speed up brain activity in the area closest to the phone antenna. The study, <a href="http://jama.ama-assn.org/content/305/8/808.abstract" target="_blank">published in The Journal of the American Medical Association,</a> is among the first and largest to document that the weak radio-frequency signals from cellphones have the potential to alter brain activity.<br />
<strong><br />
</strong>Despite peer-reviewed scientific evidence which has overwhelmingly indicated that wireless devices, within the limits established by the F.C.C., do not pose a public health risk, evidence to the contrary has now outweighed these studies. Every year, hundreds of reputable experts and scientists are accumulating evidence which concur with an exponentially growing body of research which clearly validates the fact that wireless devices are indeed a public health risk and one not to be taken lightly.<strong><br />

During this reaction, certain hormones like adrenalin and cortisol are released, speeding the heart rate, slowing digestion, shunting blood flow to major muscle groups, and changing various other autonomic nervous functions, giving the body a burst of energy and strength. Originally named for its ability to enable us to physically fight or run away when faced with danger, it’s now activated in situations where neither response is appropriate, like in traffic or during a stressful day at work. When the perceived threat is gone, systems are designed to return to normal function via the relaxation response, but in our times of chronic stress, this often doesn’t happen enough, causing damage to the body.</p>
<p>Stress can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, nervous, or anxious. Stress is triggered by an existing stress-causing factor or &#8220;stressor.&#8221; However all stress is internally generated. The external stressor triggers an internal reaction. <strong>Stress is what happens inside you!</strong></p>
<p>Your stress response is the collection of physiological changes that occur when you face a perceived threat—when you face situations where you feel the demands outweigh your resources to successfully cope.</p>
<p>When your stress response is triggered, a series of changes occur within your body. They include:</p>
<ul>
<li>A quickening of your pulse</li>
<li>A burst of adrenaline</li>
<li>Redirection of blood away from      extremities and to major organs instead</li>
<li>The release of cortisol and other      hormones, which bring other short- and long-term changes.</li>
</ul>
<p>The stress response is intended to give you a burst of energy so you’re able to fight off attackers or run away from them effectively. This helped our ancestors, who faced numerous physical threats, to stay safe.</p>
<p><a href="http://natural-health-calgary.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Untitled11.jpg"><img src="http://natural-health-calgary.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Untitled11.jpg" alt="" width="197" height="151" border="0" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-1028" title="Untitled1" /></a>However, now our threats tend to be less physical and more associated with our way of life—a challenge to our status, a demand for performance, etc. In addition to giving us a set of changes that may not match our needs as well (it might be more effective for us to have a burst of mental clarity or wisdom than a burst of physical strength, for example), the stress response can actually cause harm if it leads to a state of chronic stress—that is, if our stress response is triggered, and then our body doesn’t go back to its normal state via the <a href="http://stress.about.com/od/stressmanagementglossary/g/relaxationresp.htm" class="style1">relaxation response</a>.</p>
<p>Therefore, it’s important and healthy to find a collection of strategies that can help reverse the body’s stress response, and bring it back its natural state. A good first step would be to learn to use the Emotion Stress  Release from Health Kinesiology.</p>

<p><strong>Chronic stress</strong> is a state of ongoing physiological arousal. This occurs when the body experiences so many stressors that the autonomic nervous system rarely has a chance to activate the relaxation response. (We were built to handle acute stress, not chronic stress.) This type of chronic stress response occurs all too frequently from our modern lifestyle, when everything from high-pressured jobs to loneliness to busy traffic can keep the body in a state of perceived threat and chronic stress. In this case, our fight-or-flight response, which was designed to help us fight a few life-threatening situations spaced out over a long period (like being attacked by a bear every so often), can wear down our bodies and cause us to become ill, either physically or emotionally. Dealing with a serious illness or caring for someone who is, can cause a great deal of stress. In fact, it’s estimated that up to 90% of doctor’s visits are for conditions in which stress at least plays a role! <p><strong>Autonomic nervous functions</strong> are involuntary vital functions regulated by the autonomic nervous system (ANS), and consist of heart functioning, digestive functioning and glandular functioning. During acute stress, this response occurs naturally. However, in times of chronic stress, when the body is in a constant state of physiological arousal over perceived threats that are numerous and not life-threatening, the relaxation response can be induced through techniques such as meditation, yoga, tai chi, deep breathing exercises. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I read an article today that was shocking and saddening.  It was about the over use of pain-killers nation-wide in Canada. <a title="National Post article" href="http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/11/14/canadas-deadly-love-affair-with-painkillers/" target="_blank">http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/11/14/canadas-deadly-love-affair-with-painkillers/</a>   I was shocked to discover that the article went on to disclose “total yearly deaths from abuse of all prescription opioids have risen to 350, the same number who lose their lives in road accidents.” How many people do you know who regularly have to take pain medication to be able to get through their day?  Worse yet, how many of the people you see every day are taking these pills secretly so no one will see them as “weak” or unable to perform their duties at work or home.  There are a great many ways these people could deal with pain that would not kill them and leave behind family and friends to grieve for the person they once were, before getting hooked on these drugs.</p>
<p>Most of these drugs are being prescribed by well meaning doctors who are unaware of (or unable to recommend, because of the politics of medicine) alternatives that would assist the patient in resolving the root cause of the pain instead of masking it. On the Natural Health Calgary website alone are numerous links and articles that would be able to assist someone to find relief from the source of their pain.  The course of action that comes to mind first is the use of SCENAR to greatly reduce and eventually eliminate the pain that has been the unwelcome daily companion in many people’s lives.  I have seen first-hand what it can do to set the body on the path to healing itself.  One client sent me an email, “I&#8217;m feeling much better, less pain and able to climb stairs without holding onto the hand rail.  Also my right elbow is stronger, less pain from tendinitis. My sprained finger does not hurt as much and the swelling has gone down. The other day when my stomach was bothering me enough to keep me awake, I decided to use the SCENAR instead of medication. <li>Depressed Mood – Someone may cry more frequently than normal and feel empty and sad. Younger people, teens and children may display signs of irritability.</li>
<li>Less Pleasure and Interest – One might not find your usual interest or enjoyment out of your usual activities or any activities at all.</li>
<li>Change in Weight – A weight gain or loss of 5% or more in a month’s time would be considered significant and a sign of depression if you are not trying to change your weight.</li>
<li>Sleeping Pattern Changes – Sleeping too much or not being able to sleep may be a symptom of depression</li>
<li>Psychomotor Agitation or Retardation – A person may appear physically agitated or move slower than normal.</li>
<li>Fatigue – Extreme fatigue is another sign of depression.</li>
<li>Brain Fog – A lack of concentration and the lessened ability to think rationally.</li>
<li>Feeling Guilty or Worthless – One might feel needlessly guilty about things you have no control over.</li>
<li>Thoughts of Death and Suicide.</li>
</ol>
<p>A lack of magnesium can cause Depression.</p>
<p>Numerous papers expose the fact that we need 350mg of magnesium each day to be healthy. Most of us don’t even drink nearly enough water so it’s not likely that those same dehydrated people are monitoring their magnesium levels very closely either.</p>
<p>To make it worse, the average Western diet does not contain nearly enough, with a good shortage of 150mg, our foods are simply over processed and not growing in the right minerals.</p>
